When the auditions came for the role of Cho Chang, Katie and her father decided that she should give the audition a go. A few auditions, screen tests and a phonecall later, Katie was the girl chosen to play the Ravenclaw student and Harry Potter's firstcrush, Cho Chang. The eighteen year old beat over 3000 girls for this role. She will bemaking her debut in the upcoming Harry Potter film, Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. Katie is currently living with her father, stepmother, two brothers and a sister in Scotland's district of Motherwell. This is Katie's first professional role and her first ever acting role! Katie responded to an open casting call back in February 2004 where she beat 5,000 girls for the role of Cho Chang. Katie had no prior acting experience or coaching; it was quite by chance that her father saw an advertisement on a Chinese television channel for the casting call. Katie thought it might be quite "fun" to go along and try her luck, though that day she was more interested in going shopping! On the day of the casting, Katie joined the queue of thousands of young girls desperate to win the part of Cho Chang. After the initial casting call, Katie was extremely shocked to hear that she had been short listed and that the casting director wanted her back for further auditions; with no prior acting experience she was convinced that she wouldn't get the role. After more auditions and screen tests, her mother was called to say that Katie would be playing Cho Chang in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
